This tutorial shows how to install the Zotero MS Word plugin on Firefox.

The newly released Word for Mac Version 16.9.1 (180125) breaks the Zotero plugin. Citations are no longer inserted as fields. Citations cannot be edited. The Document Preferences menu is unstable. • Zotero is a powerful, easy-to-use research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources and then share the results of your research.
• Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection. Go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates. Let AutoUpdate check for and install updates. Restart your Mac. If Word is up to date, install the latest version of Zotero. Word and Zotero work fine.

Zotero Plugin For Microsoft Word

• Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)
  • You will generally be prompted to install a JRE automatically upon installation if necessary. Some Linux users may need to install the JRE included in their distribution.
  • On macOS, LibreOffice requires the JDK, not the JRE, and LibreOffice 7 currently only works with JDK versions up to 12. See the troubleshooting instructions for more information.
